Students in the Year 10 Hospitality Practices course successfully completed their first Event, a two-course packaged lunch for SLC teachers. While this may seem simple to many, it was a more complex task. Students have spent the term researching, trialling, and evaluating appropriate recipes to create for the menu offered to staff, before marketing the event and collating orders.
The results saw them produce and serve the orders as a team. An added complexity was adhering to COVID-19 guidelines for a food service, a first for many, and realising the difficulty of checklists, signage and protective measures it required. Early feedback and observations were very positive as this group of students ventured into unknown territory for this type of assessment task.
Well done students. We hope staff enjoyed their delicious lunch today.
